Price

3900 sek / person. At least 2 participants are required. Maximum 6 participants per instructor.

For Who?

From 16 years. To be able to take advantage of the course, you should be able to ski or snowboard in off-piste terrain. You should also have undergone SVELAV Intro or in some other way acquired some basic knowledge about avalanches, e.g. through SVELAV's online course and literature on avalanches.

When and Where?

Abisko, Björkliden and Riksgränsen.

Due to weather conditions, the course may need to change places between the three locations during ongoing course days.

Included

Course literature and loans of transceivers, shovels and probes.

Insurance for all participants during the course.

Not Included

Lift pass, food, accommodation and transport. Bring a lunch bag or buy on the spot. Ski / snowboard equipment, backpack, helmet, goggles and clothes depending on the weather.

This course is for you who ski and snowboard in avalanche terrain. During two days, we give you the tools and knowledge you need to be able to travel in the mountains in a safe way.

Overall course goals

 

  • SVELAV Freeride 1 will provide basic knowledge about avalanches, avalanche danger and give the participants methods and tools for risk management.

  • After the course, the participants will be able to reduce the risk of activities in mountain terrain on their own, with the help of tools to support your decesions.

  • Participants will be able to search for and interpret information about avalanche danger (terrain classification, avalanche forecasts) and be able to use it to reduce the risks.

  • Participants will be able to identify avalanche terrain and be able to find avalanche-safe route choices.

  • The participants will be able to carry out a peer rescue independently.
