AVALANCHE COURSE
SVELAV Freeriding 1 Snowmobile - Winter 21/22
This course is for you who drive a snowmobile in avalanche terrain. During two course days, we give you the tools and knowledge you need to be able to travel in the mountains in a safe way.
Overall educational goals

SVELAV Freeriding 1 Snowmobile provides basic knowledge about avalanches, avalanche danger and the participants a methods and decision support for risk management.

After the training, the participants will be able to reduce the risk of activities in mountain terrain on their own, but with the help of various decision support.

Participants will be able to search for and interpret information about avalanche danger (terrain classification, avalanche forecasts) and be able to use it to reduce their own risks.

Participants will be able to identify avalanche terrain and be able to independently find avalanche-safe route choices.

The participants will be able to carry out a peer rescue independently.

3900 sec / person. At least 2 entries are required for a course to be completed. Maximum 8 participants per instructor.
For who
From 16 years. In order to be able to take advantage of the course, you should be able to drive a snowmobile in varying terrain. You should also have undergone SVELAV Intro or in some other way acquired some basic knowledge about avalanches, e.g. through SVELAV's online course and literature on avalanches.
Places
Riksgränsen and Björkliden
Due to weather conditions, the course may need to change places between the two locations during ongoing course days.
Included
Possible course literature and loans of transceivers, shovels and probes.
Accident insurance for all participants during the course.
Not included / bring
Food, possible accommodation and transport. Bring a lunch bag. Own snowmobile, backpack, helmet, goggles and clothes depending on the weather.
